From the Sharper Iron, Andrew Henderson has posted Disciplines of a Devoted Prayer Life: Matthew 6:5-8, Part Two.
He points to what I think is one of the biggest problems with prayer most believers face today.
If we spend more time praying in public (church, prayer meeting, Bible studies, etc.) than we do praying in private communion with the Lord, I do not believe it a stretch to say that we are in a great deal of spiritual trouble.
We say we love to pray, we believe in the importance of prayer and that God hears our prayers–but do we really set aside time for private prayer? Is most of our praying done in the prayer services and Bible studies?
Here’s part one from the series.
