There’s been a lot of talk these days connected with the Covid-19 virus about essential workers and non-essential travel.
We’d certainly like to see everyone back to work. And it sure would be nice to go visit our children and grandchildren.
What would you say is essential? That could be quite the discussion right now and I have opinions about that too.
But let’s not go there.
As I think about what’s essential right now, it’s what has always been essential for believers, and is especially now.
Here are two familiar scripture passages that show me what’s most essential.
In just four verses I’m reminded that I need the Word of God and prayer every day.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells me I desperately need the Bible in me.
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
And Philippians 4:6-7 challenges me to yield to God every day the people and situations all around me.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
These are truly the essential things of life as a believer in and follower of Jesus Christ.
Thank you for your continued prayer and support as we serve at Camp Barakel. We don’t take your support lightly and we thank God for you.
