My Arms Are Tired

Sometimes I can’t remember what I’ve done in a day here at Barakel.

Partly bad memory. Partly doing a lot of different things in one day.

Last Friday was a day like that.

Fridays during retreat season tend to be long.

When I arrived at home late in the day last Friday and sat down I couldn’t figure out why I was so tired.

I didn’t remember the day being filled with strenuous labor. But I was exhausted.

Then it hit me. I had forgotten about carrying luggage for ladies earlier in the evening. It was a ladies retreat weekend, as is this weekend. I had been assigned to help ladies carry their luggage to their lodges from their cars.

It was two hours in the evening that I had completely forgotten. Probably because I had gone next to helping with dishes at the evening snack.

But at the end of the day I was ready for sleep and thankful for it.

When I get to sleep I’m often reminded that God never stops watching over, caring for, working for, intervening for, and providing for my needs. Read Psalm 121 and you’ll see. He also cares for you.
